"My mum counted the price of the groceries as we walked around the store, sometimes we had to put items back on the shelves."

I grew up with a single mum who tried her best to make ends meet. The generational trauma in our family was evident and addiction was a huge part of my childhood because of that trauma. We had everything we needed, school uniforms, a healthy lunch and shoes on our feet... but the vision of a "successful" life was far from anything I could have imagined. The idea of savings, buying a house, and living beside the beach? Not in my world. Now I live a life where all of that is possible, I can take care of myself, I aim high and dream big. A walk to the beach or a sunrise swim is a regular activity. I have the freedom to buy a house and build a promising future for my children.
